Energy Performance of a Novel Hybrid Air Conditioning System Built on Gravity-Assisted Heat Pipe-Based Indirect Evaporative Cooler

A hybrid air conditioning system, which is composed of a novel gravity-assisted heat pipe (GAHP)-based indirect evaporative cooler (IEC) and direct expansion (DX) cooling coil, proposed investigated here. After developing mathematical model to describe the performance GAHP-based IEC, system evaluated during design day for providing thermal comfort an office building in Poland. The results are obtained compared with combination rotary exchanger (RHE) DX coil as conventional system. comparison performed by analyzing capacity, electricity consumption, coefficient profiles, technical, energy, efficiency aspects, respectively. show that IEC able enhance energy significantly one. HVAC improves COP 39.2% reduces consumption 45.0%, according design-day 24 August outdoor temperature 30 °C. As result, total operating cost assumed season reduced 51.7%.
